Understanding principals, philosophies and practices of entrepreneurship may not be as exciting as hundreds of fans chanting your name. Entrepreneurship to most creative people is just boring! It may seem like entrepreneurship only applies to the corporate world. Don’t be fooled, the “Music and Recording Industries” core business is exactly the corporate world! Nothing more, and nothing less!

There will be times a book, resources or a person will be introduced to the Music Talks community that has nothing to do with music or the music business, so it may seem. The idea is to take this information and apply it to what you do. challenge anyone truly being proactive about changing the way you think or seeking to become a Musical Entrepreneur to take hold of the material that I pass on either through the Music Talks website, sessions, classes, video or audio.

If ”Musical Entrepreneurship” is not for you, that’s ok. If you are seeking a record deal the information still applies. It will better help you understand how the record company executives (the suits) are thinking when you put your music on their desk. In their minds they are asking themselves “is this artist an asset or a liability” to this company. If you are not an asset, you’re not getting signed!

The idea is to not disregard the information being presented if it’s not coming from someone in the music business. I’m finding out that’s a good thing!

A “Musical Entrepreneur” is a new “species” in the music business. We must look at the existing models as we create and define its place in the industry!
